Sandboxie 3.30

When you run a program on your computer, data flows from the hard disk to the program via read operations. The data is then processed and displayed, and finally flows back from the progam to the hard disk via write operations.

For example, if you run the Freecell program to play a game, it starts by reading the previously recorded statistics, displaying and altering them as you play the game, and finally writing them back to disk for future reference.

Sandboxie changes the rules such that write operations do not make it back to your hard disk.

The illustration shows the key component of Sandboxie: a transient storage area, or sandbox. Data flows in both directions between programs and the sandbox. During read operations, data may flow from the hard disk into the sandbox. But data never flows back from the sandbox into the hard disk.

If you run Freecell inside the Sandboxie environment, Sandboxie reads the statistics data from the hard disk into the sandbox, to satisfy the read requested by Freecell. When the game later writes the statistics, Sandboxie intercepts this operation and directs the data to the sandbox.

If you then run Freecell without the aid of Sandboxie, the read operation would bypass the sandbox altogether, and the statistics would be retrieved from the hard disk.

The transient nature of the sandbox makes it is easy to get rid of everything in it. If you were to throw away the sandbox, by deleting everything in it, the sandboxed statistics would be gone for good, as if they had never been there in the first place.
Sandboxie and the Web

Protecting your Freecell statistics using Sandboxie may be a good idea when a less qualified player comes along, but you will probably want to play most of your games outside the sandbox. On the other hand, you may want to run your Web browser inside the sandbox most of the time. This way any incoming, unsolicited software (spyware, malware and the like) that you download, is trapped in the sandbox. Changes made to your list of Favorites or Bookmarks, hijacking of your preferred start page, new and unwanted icons on your desktop — all these, and more, are trapped in and bound to the sandbox.

You could also try a new toolbar add-on, browser extension or just about any kind of software. If you don’t like it, you throw away the sandbox, and start again with a fresh sandbox. On the other hand, if you do like the new piece of software, you can re-install it outside the sandbox so it becomes a permanent part of your system.

Sandboxie intercepts changes to both your files and registry settings, making it virtually impossible for any software to reach outside the sandbox.

Sandboxie traps cached browser items into the sandbox as a by-product of normal operation, so when you throw away the sandbox, all the history records and other side-effects of your browsing disappear as well.

The Alternative

Sandboxie is free so you really don’t have to look around for an alternative. If you find it makes your Web experience that much safer, you are encouraged to register the program for a small fee. However, if you still don’t like or can’t use Sandboxie for whatever reason, here are some alternatives.
Anti-Virus Software, Anti-Spyware Tools

These tools scan your computer files and registry settings looking for known viruses and unsolicited software (spyware). Such tools can only remove viruses and spyware they can identify, and usually only after that software has made its way into your computer. Contrast this with the Sandboxie approach, which keeps the viruses and spyware trapped in the sandbox, and makes them disappear when you throw away the sandbox.
Untrusted Browsing

The ActiveX mechanism lets Web sites run little programs in your computer. These are mostly well-natured programs, for example automatic download managers or automatic toolbar installation. Some not-so-well-natured Web sites use this mechanism to install spyware into your computer. You could browse with ActiveX disabled (by turning it off, or by switching to a browser that doesn’t offer support for ActiveX), but you would be trading security over functionality. With Sandboxie, you can keep ActiveX turned on, and have both security and functionality.

Plot

Far away in a distant town, there was once a young man named Aditya, Brought up by a foster family, Aditya was unaware of his real identity and the destiny that awaited him. Ever since he was a child, a recurring nightmare haunted him. And when he woke up in fright, there was no one he could ever hold on to except for a magical BlueCross petal that came wafting in the wind, never failing to make him smile through his tears.

Somewhere far, an evil sorcerer, Riz Raizada, a descendant of the asuras (legendary demons) had become dangerously impatient, in his thirst for the precious secret. The secret, which was the missing link, in this grand plan of taking over the universe. To get to the secret, he'd have to defeat the Drona. And herein, lay his problem. He didn't know who or where the Drona was! One sudden day Aditya and Riz came face to face and Riz immediately recognized him as the Drona.

Aditya's destiny had caught up with him and his life was about to take him on a journey he had never imagined. Aditya couldn't comprehend why Riz's men were hunting him down. Just when he was about to be captured, a cult that believed that The Drona was their Messiah came to his rescue. Sonia, the leader of the cult, revealed Aditya's real identify to him. Baffled, Aditya found it all too hard to believe. Having no time to lose, Sonia decided to take Aditya back to his place of birth, the ancient kingdom of Pratapgarh where his mother, Queen Jayanti Devi would have all the answers to his questions. But before he could embrace his mother, Riz and his army of the darkest powers caught up with him and did some things to him.

Aditya would now have to rise to the occasion and embrace his destiny. For the sake of mankind he would have to become the legendary warrior he was born to be. Drona. Thus began Drona's journey through myths and legends. Along with Sonia, he would fight the evil spells of the absolutely lethal Riz Raizada. By battling odds, he would discover skills that he never knew he had. But would his fears catch up with him? Would the nightmares from his childhood come in the way of his epic journey? The movie starts in a different manner unlike others, which depicts the suffering of the hero in his jail tenure in forms of sketches. By seeing that one comes to know how much the poor chap had suffered and is filled with utmost hatred with the person who had put him behind the bars. The movie has the same old stuffs with the same old storyline. There is nothing new or interesting in Kidnap to watch. It has the same zest as we saw in the movie 'Zinda'. It has the same old revenge seeking formula. One does something wrong in childhood and repents for it later in his adulthood. The tag line, "Bachpan ki karne, aur Jawani mein bharni" surely goes the way. The theme of the movie is clearly understood by its name; 'Kidnap'. The plot revolves around a girl named Sonia (Minissha Lamba) who lives with her mother, Mallika (Vidya Malvade) because when she was ten years old her parents got divorced. Few days prior to her birthday, she gets kidnapped by Kabir Sharma (Imran Khan). The kidnapper is interested in talking only to her father, Vikrant Raina (Sanjay Dutt) who is filthy rich, with whom the kidnapper has to settle some old dues. Vikrant has to follow a particular set of rules laid by the kidnapper in order to free his daughter. The twist is that the kidnapper gives Vikrant clues in will help him get closer to his daughter. The movie kick-starts with a song which dares to bare Minissha in bikinis and two pieces. All throughout the movie one gets to see for the first time — Minissha Lamba in her sexy and seductive avatar. The clues which are given by Imran are good and is obediently followed by Sanjay Dutt. Though one finds some mistakes in it too. Sanjay owns cash worth $51 Billion. Imran tells Sanjay to reach Panvel station at a given time to find the clue to which Sanjay says it is not possible in such a peak time. Imran then tells him to fly and come but Sanjay (please note again: $51 billion owner) cannot afford a helicopter (it seems) and instead robs other people's cars and bikes to reach his destination. We get to see some very some very strange bonding and emotional conversations between the Minissha and Sanjay when they get to see each other (both handcuffed) It seems that Minissha had been offered the role in this movie only to expose (which she did a little too much). The interesting part is that one gets to see Minissha in all the more revealing clothes after she is been kidnapped (who on Earth will do that); and that did attract Imran towards her. The movie did have some good camera work. The sequence shot in the jail was worth praise. Talking about the characters in the movie; Sanjay was impressive. Imran played his character well and fitted into the role. He did prove he is a typical 'Khan' and has a long way to go. Vidya too was worth a watch. Minissha gave a direct message to actresses who have revealed and gained praises that she is no less and as surely joined the queue. The music of the film is strictly ok, apart from a few songs like Mit Jaaye, Hey Ya, Mausam. The action sequence is good specially Imran jumping phenomenon. Sanjay Gadhvi has not at all done justice to his work and small mistakes are in plenty. We expected more of quality work from him. First half of the movie is tolerable but the second half irritates you to the core. It can be clearly felt that the movie is being dragged without a point. All in the entire movie fails to grab an attention and has in no sense done justice to the hypes created.

Frankly, it’s the worst movie in decades, fighting for the Rotten Tomato Award with Ram Gopal Varma ka Ugh. Goldie Behl ka Drona demonstrates that just getting half-saleable actors and easily impressed production honchos (what were the Lullas of Eros Entertainment thinking of?) are sufficient reason to drive you cashews. The nut fest moves from modern-day Czechoslovakia and Prithviraj Chauhan-time Rajasthan to a bygone-era Morocco. Here a dwarf goes hee-haw-hee till you want the li’l fellow to shut-up-please. Quease.

Worse, you quiver because of at least five travesties. First: Jaya Bachchan shows up in a scary special appearance. A brand ambassador, it would seem, for Rajasthan Cottage Emporium’s Ila Arun-style ghagras, she gets hysterical about meeting an estranged son (like she always does) and makes a speech (careful, careful) about how the world must be saved. And presto, she turns into a statue in a disco pose. How Shiamak Davar! Instead of being immediately exhibited at the Louvre, this Putli bai stands for days in the deserts. No one comes to see her though.

Second, the special effects often look like electronic varicose veins. And hey, keep your smelling salts ready on sighting the baddy maddy (Kay Kay Menon, insufferable with a gelled Eiffel Tower on his scalp). Campy Eiffel parodies Mogambo Puri and even creates a candle wax version of himself just in case the electricity goes off. Honestly, this dude’s as funny as Johnny Lever-Jaspal Bhatti-Priyadarshan-Abha-Dhaba-Rabba-Guddi. Alas, unintentionally.

Third, our hero Drona Groana (Abhishek Bachchan, portly, hopelessly miscast) is a shockingly weak. He’s tormented and tormented till you want to torment him too. Infectious. To his rescue, finally arrives a la-di-dah bodyguard (Priyanka Chopra, carrying more knives than dear Jaya Bachchanji in Zanjeer). More weakling’s aids: blue rose petals, a tired white horse, a monk with a ticklish beard and a nun sweeter than a cherry bun. Fun? Forget it.

Four, it’s not quite what clear sort of powers are enabled by a mithai box-like bracelet. It should turn our Drona into Spiderman, Batman, Superman, Krrish, Shrek, Nemo, Mimoh, you get the drift. But it doesn’t. Awwww.

Five, the songs are hit-and-run cases. The dialogue is obsessive about the word “shristhti” perhaps in a homage to the co-producer? The photography is blotchy. And the ending hints at a sequel. Hide in your cupboards already!

Like it or not, Drona is artless, arrogant, brazenly derivative and terribly acted by one and all (except for that puckish dwarf maybe). Behl toys around with special effects which have been served by Hollywood’s sword-and-sorcery epics decades ago. Truly, throughout you suffer, feel like a blue petal and sob about the state of cinema today. RIP.

How now. Here’s a Shamita Shetty cabaret meant for extraterrestrials, not for this planet’s kids or adults. Goons break into dirty lingo (bleep-bleeped by the censors but still). And there’s much nudge-nudge-wink-wink about a kid catching dear old Lilette Dubey with her sari pallu down. Frown.

So there you are kicking yourself for wandering into Hari Puttar: A Comedy of Terrors. But hey, what did you expect? A masterpiece? Well, even those who go with zilch expectations are likely to curse the moment they bought a ticket for this Puttarnama directed by Lucky Kohli (not lucky for the audience) and Rajesh Bajaj.

Imagine it took two to bang-o this blather which cadges its premise, rather late in the day, from Home Alone (1990). Keep your fingers crossed that Macaulay Culkin doesn’t tour India soon. He’d flip. And flap.

Okay, so you stepped into Pitter Puttar strictly in the line of duty, watched this mirthless stuff and have guesstimated that obviously someone or the other in Britain had stacks of euros to blow up on this tide of terrors, set in a B-grade manor. Immediately, you meet Sarika (trying to look interested), Boy Zain Khan in the title role and the aforementioned Liletteji trying to be Padma Khanna of yore. Or make that Jayshree T.

This isn’t SO bad. Wait till you encounter (three or was it four?) Brit babes breaking into a very scary Bollywood number. In addition, there are a couple of Brit kids who think they’re in a school play, a spiked hair chap more slippery than gel, a girl with asthma (look what Cheeni Kum did to Swini Khera). And there’s a moppet who appears out of the blue and vanishes as if he suddenly disapproved of the script. Smart.

Among the adults count Saurabh Shukla in a fright Diana Ross wig, and Vijay Raaz, expressionless as if were in a trance. Jackie Shroff drops by to guzzle a few pink gins and goes ho-ho-ho like Santa Claus (too early). Hari Puttar’s dad (Greying Hair) is in a jungle talking about delicious chips which have more to do with computers than with French fries. And you just can’t miss an Ajit mimic, wearing only one blue contact lens, implying that there wasn’t enough budget for the other. Eye say.

There’s no plot really except for the fact that Vijay Raaz gets something like last year’s yellow porridge dumped on his head. Meanwhile bewigged Saurabh Shukla keeps passing wind (stink stink). And you certainly can’t miss an elderly man in a garbage collector’s uniform who announces that his son hasn’t met him in ages. Very understandable that.

In the technical department, the ‘live’ animation interludes are okay. The music is nothing to dance about. Oi, but composer Adesh Srivastava performs an item number, presumably because Malaika Arora-Khan couldn’t spare the dates. To be honest, these are more words than this putter-patter deserved. So here’s closing quickly with the recommendation -- no, no, no, no, no, never.

What if mankind had to leave Earth, and somebody forgot to turn the last robot off? Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) and Mike Lowrey (Will Smith) return as partners on the Miami Tactical Narcotics Team in director Michael Bay's (PEARL HARBOR, ARMAGEDDON) sequel to the 1995 blockbuster BAD BOYS. Car chases and shoot outs are daily occurrences as the two try to track down a big time Ecstasy dealer. The trail leads to Johnny Tapia (Jordi Mollá) a Cuban immigrant who runs the biggest drug cartel on the East Coast. The stakes are raised when Marcus discovers that his sister, Syd (Gabrielle Union), an agent for the Drug Enforcement Agency, is working undercover trying to bust Tapia as well. And to further complicate matters, Syd and Mike have become involved romantically and are keeping it a secret from Marcus. Jam-packed with massive explosions, wild chase scenes, and flying bullets, this wild ride is filled with action and violence. Smith is charming as the quick-tempered, fast-talking Mike, and Lawrence is his ideal counterpart as the stressed-out Marcus, who resorts to therapy tricks to keep calm. Joe Pantoliano reprises his role as Captain Howard, who is continually traumatized by the trail of wrecked cars and damage his boys leave behind after a chase.

Theatrical release date: April 2, 1999. THE MATRIX won three Academy Awards: Achievement in Film Editing, Sound, and Visual Effects (beating out STAR WARS EPISODE 1: THE PHANTOM MENACE). In each category, the winners quoted a line from the film. The Wachowski brothers got their start at Marvel Comics, where they wrote dialogue for Clive Barker's HELLRAISER. They eventually trained for more than five months (October 1997-March 1998), primarily because the actors and the Wachowskis wanted to limit the use of stunt doubles in the picture; the directors wanted the audience to see that the actual actors were performing the stunts. Each actor had their own kung fu master on the set. Neo is an anagram for "One." The Wachowskis named Neo’s alter ego Thomas, for the biblical Doubting Thomas. SIMULACRA AND SIMULATION, Jean Baudrillard’s theoretical text concerning culture, reality, and simulation, is the title of the book Neo uses to keep his contraband. Carrie-Anne Moss sprained her ankle during the filming of the federal lobby scene but told no one at the time, even though she was unable to walk the next day. Moss appeared in the 1993 television show MATRIX, about a hit man working for the underworld. A musical theater piece by the Live Bait Theater group in Chicago (the Wachowski brothers’ hometown) called NEO: A MATRIX MUSICAL ran in May 2000. Producer Joel Silver called THE MATRIX "the first film of the new millennium." Talking about the making of the film, Fishburne compared the brothers Wachowski to the Brothers Grimm in their ability to tell fairy tales. Weapons expert Rock Galotti taught the cast how to realistically hold and shoot all the weapons in the film.

Final Destination 2 [HINDI]

In FINAL DESTINATION 2, the basic notion of cheating mortality is further refined with an even more gripping plot provided by Eric Bress & J. Mackye Gruber, the duo behind the film BLUNT. Director David R. Ellis revels in film as an entertainment vehicle and the result is a no-holds-barred raucous good time. Ellis' background as a stuntman and stunt coordinator helps him build electric suspense through a chain of seemingly simple actions that in fact loaded and lethal. In the original, FINAL DESTINATION, a group of students avoided the tragic crash of Flight 180 when Alexander Browning had a premonition. Death, however, didn't like being outwitted, and one by one the survivors died in freak accidents. The sole survivor was Clear Rivers (Ali Larter) who voluntarily checked into a padded room at Stonybrook Institute. FINAL DESTINATION II takes place on Flight 180's one-year anniversary. Kimberly Corman (A.J. Cook) is joyriding with some friends on Route 23 when she "sees" herself, her friends, and other drivers involved in a massive multi-car pileup. The scene is so artfully executed, it physically hurts to watch. She and police officer Thomas Burke (Michael Landes) save a group of people who would have otherwise died in the crash. But, as ever, death approacheth, taking the likes of Evan (David Paetkau), the Trans Am-loving lottery winner who puts up a good fight but is ultimately impaled on a fire escape ladder; and Tim (James Kirk), who almost chokes to death at the dentist and is later flattened by a piece of industrial glass. Clear Rivers busts out of the psych ward to help the remaining survivors pool their efforts and read the signs of impending death before it claims their lives.
